During the last week (from 04.01 to 10.01) units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine carried out site visits to prevent emergencies, to respond to incidents and to eliminate their consequences, to extinguish fires and other rescue measures. Since the beginning of the week, 956 emergencies have been registered, to which SES units have responded by going to the site of their occurrence. As the result of the undertaken measures 46 persons have been rescued.

The number of fires in the residential sector in the winter increases many times. Only in recent days has the Rescue Service received a number of reports of fires in the private sector, often caused by violations of fire safety rules and, in particular, the improper operation of heating equipment. Often the consequences of such fires are quite tragic.

During the recent week (from December 7 to December 13) the units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine performed interventions to prevent emergencies, ensured rapid response to accidents and consequence relief, fire-fighting, and other rescue activities.

Comprehensive work is underway to prevent the spread of Covid-19 coronavirus infection in Ukraine. In cooperation with local authorities, rescuers disinfect social facilities, decontaminate sections of roads, sidewalks, etc.

Extinguishing fires that occur in vehicles is not uncommon for rescuers. The Rescue Service constantly receives reports of fires in cars, trucks and agricultural machinery. Most often, ignition in vehicles occurs due to malfunction of parts or system of power supply, engine overheating, violation of the rules of safe operation, as well as due to arson, etc.
