About 30% of the territory of Ukraine (over 174,000 square km) was affected by hostilities. Therefore, ahead of Afghanistan and Syria, our country is now the most mined in the world. Every day, our sappers and rescuers neutralize the traps left by the enemy. They risk their lives. They die. Only on May 6, we lost six pyrotechnicians of the State Emergency Service in the Kherson oblast. That is why Ukraine urgently needs means for humanitarian demining, technological and as safe as possible, both for sappers and for residents who are forced to live next to the constant danger of explosions.
We look forward to the assistance of the Government of the Republic of Korea in meeting the priority needs for demining vehicles and protective equipment. Together with the First Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyridenko and Deputy Head of the Office of the President Rostyslav Shurma, they discussed this during a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Mr. Park Chin. They heard about the readiness to provide cars for demining and mobile X-ray machines.
I am grateful to the country and its leadership for supporting the peace formula of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi and condemning the abduction of Ukrainian children by russia.
I hope that the Republic of Korea will also actively participate in the creation of a special tribunal that will hold the leadership of the russian federation accountable for the outbreak of the war.
Justice is needed not only for Ukraine, but for all countries that strive to live peacefully.
