Ukraine took part in the meeting of general directors within the framework of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism

On May 15-16, Stockholm hosted the 50th meeting of general directors within the framework of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, which was attended by the Ukrainian delegation headed by the Head of the Emergency Situations Service of Ukraine Serhiy Kruk.


On behalf of Ukrainian rescuers, he thanked the European Community for its support, thanks to which Ukraine officially joined the EU Civil Protection Mechanism in April this year.


"We are strong when we are united. And we become stronger thanks to the help of the entire European community and the family of rescuers around the world. Ukraine's entry into the EU Civil Protection Mechanism is integration into the European security space. We are open to cooperation. I thank you for your support "- said Serhii Kruk.

I am glad to hear from my colleagues about our intention to continue to provide unwavering support to Ukraine, which belongs to the European family." , - said the Head of the General Directorate of the European Commission for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid (DG ECHO) Maciej Popowski.


During the meeting, the participants discussed strengthening the resilience of Europe and adapting the Mechanism to respond to emergency situations today, as well as preparing for forest fires in 2023.

It includes the countries of the European Union and 9 member states (Norway, Iceland, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine).
